Review, configure, and create cable tray connectors.
- Open the project E05_02.rvt.
- Ensure the current view is Power > Floor Plans > 1 – Power.
- Select panel board LP-1.
- Open it in the Family Editor — on the ribbon, Modify | Electrical Equipment contextual tab, Mode panel, click Edit Family.
- In the Connectors panel, click Conduit Connector.
- From the Options Bar, click Individual Connector.
- Place 3 connectors, one in each of the 3 pre-punched hole positions on the top face of the panel board.
- Select a connector.
- In Properties, in the Diameter field, click Associate Family Parameter.
- From the list of parameters, choose KnockoutDiameter. Click OK.
- Repeat the process for the two remaining conduit connectors.
- In the Connectors panel, click Conduit Connector.
- In the Options Bar, click Surface Connector.
- Highlight and select the side face to place the connector, as shown.
- Click Load into Project to load the modified panel board, and overwrite the existing version and parameter values.
- Select the panel board.
- Right-click one of the grips on the top face.
Note: selecting Draw Conduit here allows you to create conduit only at the fixed position and starting size determined by the individual connector added in the Family Editor.
- Press ESC to clear.
- Select the panel board.
- Right-click the grip on the side face.
- From here, you can create conduit at any position and starting size because of the surface connector added in the Family Editor. Select Draw Conduit from Face.
- To move the connector position, either drag or change dimension values.
- Click Finish Connection.
- From the Options Bar, set the Diameter to 1".
- Leave the Middle Elevation value unchanged.
- Draw a short run of conduit.
- Select panel board LP-1, and click Edit Family to open it in the Family Editor.
- Delete the 3 individual connectors placed previously.
- Select the 3 pre-punched hole positions.
- From the Properties, deselect Cuts Geometry to remove the modeled recesses in the top of the panel board.
- In the Connectors panel, click Cable Tray Connector.
- Place the connector on the top face, as shown.
- Select the connector.
- From the Properties, set the Width value to 8".
- Set the Height to 1".
- Load the modified panel board into the project, overwriting the existing version and its parameter values.
- Select the panel board.
- Right-click the grip on the top face and select Draw Cable Tray.
- The width and height values for the cable tray are set by the values at the connector. From the Options Bar, set the Middle Elevation to 9' 0".
- Draw a short run of cable tray with a small branch.
- Save the project.
