Step-by-step guide
The InfoWater Pro Scheduler can assist in selecting cost-effective pumping policies to reduce operational costs and provide more reliable operations. Once a Scheduler optimization simulation is run, results can be exported into a selected Control Set.
- In the Scheduler, from the View drop-down, select Export.
Since exported controls will overwrite the existing Control Set, it is best practice to keep the original controls and statuses in a separate Control Set and create a new control set for updates:
- Under Export Options, next to the drop-down, click Browse (…) to open the Control Set dialog box.
- Click New.
- Enter a Control Set ID, such as “SCHEDULE1".
- Click OK.
The Export view of the Scheduler reappears.
- Make sure that SCHEDULE1 is selected in the drop-down list.
- Click Export.
- In the Confirmation popup, click Yes.
- Check the Scheduler Message Board to confirm that the pump schedule was exported successfully.
- Close the Scheduler.
Next, launch a standard hydraulic simulation and execute an energy simulation, based on the new operation controls exported from the Scheduler.
Before running a standard hydraulic simulation, make a copy of the active scenario:
- From the Model Explorer, click Scenario Explorer.
- In the Scenario Explorer dialog box, right-click the active scenario and select Copy.
- Right-click the active scenario again, and select Paste As Child.
- In the New Data Scenario popup, type a name, such as “NEW_SCHEDULE”.
- Click OK.
- With the new child scenario selected, in the Scenario Explorer, click Activate.
- In the toolbar, click Edit Active Scenario.
- In the Active Scenario dialog box, double-click Control Set.
- In the Control Set window, click SCHEDULE1.
- Click OK.
SCHEDULE1 now appears as the active Control Set.
- Click Apply to close the Active Scenario window.
- Close the Scenario Explorer.
Now, run the simulation:
- On the InfoWater Pro ribbon, in the Analysis panel, click Run to open the Run Manager.
- Click Run to run the simulation and create an output for the current scenario.
- Close the Run Manager.
In the Model Explorer, note the additional energy output data for a pump element.
To view energy reports based on the results:
- From the InfoWater Pro ribbon, View tab, select Report Manager.
- In the Report Manager, click New.
- In the Output Report/Graph dialog box, select Tabular Report.
- Select Energy Cost report, Demand Cost report—if demand charge data has been entered—or Energy Summary report.
